Summer fun a la Rinikini:

Our favourite time of year – you’ll normally find us counting down the winter days until the sunshine shows it’s pretty face again. Some people like to plan their summer as soon as the last one is over. However, despite our excitement for everything this time of year embodies, we like to keep our diary as free as possible. There are so many exciting events popping up each month, which wouldn’t like to miss through being too hasty and booking last year’s big thing. At Rinikini, we’re all about open-mindedness and trying new things. Here are some of the events on our wish-list for this summer:

The Festival: Burning Man, 27 Aug 2017 – 4 Sep 2017. Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA

There is one main festival on our wish-list this year (and we’ve had you eye on it for a while), Burning Man! Located in the Black Rock Desert, Burning Man aims to ‘lift the human spirit, address social problems and inspire a sense of culture, community and personal engagement’. Once there, you trade in knowledge, skills and produce, not cash. The festival is devoted to the act of gift giving. ‘The value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not contemplate a return or an exchange for something of equal value.’ Better still, this festival leaves absolutely no trace of itself after wards. Could it be built around better values? Rinikini thinks not! And of course, the acts, activities, costumes and surroundings are mind-blowingly beautiful. For something a little closer to home, we’ll be heading to Wilderness to enjoy arts, food, music and fresh water swimming with other like-minded free spirits.

The Beach Party: Gnaoua, 29 Jun – 1 Jul 2017. Essaouira, Morrocco.

We love a beach party – anywhere we can enjoy sand between our toes as we dance in the beautiful sunshine has our vote. As the European festivals gain popularity, we’re turning our attention to a more authentic Northern African option. Morocco’s port city of Essaouira, to be precise. Gnaoua Festival takes place all over the city, with jazz, pop, rock, soul and contemporary world music. It takes place all around the coastal town and is an incredible celebration of music, culture and African identity. In those sunny climes, there’s nothing better to wear than your favourite RiniKini. The Camila has our vote – it will fit in perfectly in the blue and white coastal town.

Dance and Music: Morning Gloryville. Various dates and locations globally.

Heard about Morning Gloryville? A series of wake-up raves? What better way to start the day than with a sober party?! These events started in 2013 as a way of promoting conscious clubbing. With free hugs, wake up juices and artists like Fat Boy Slim in the mix, it’s easy to see why these feel-good wake-up calls get the endorphins going, and attendees ‘high on life’. They’ve travelled all over the world, so keep an eye out for lithe next one near you. There’s no chance of getting out of bed on the wrong side when you ‘rave your way into the day’.

The Spiritual Event: Soul Circus, 18th-20th August 2017. The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire

Yogee’s out there, this one’s for you. Soul Circus is built around yoga, food and music, all under the bigger theme of Balance. Based in the idyllic British countryside of The Cotswolds this August, you will be able to do hot yoga, drink juices, eat at supper clubs and generally cleanse your body, mind and soul.

Au Naturel: Canopy and Stars. Various locations across Europe.

And if, regardless of the good vibes, large numbers of people aren’t your thing, or you simply want a quiet weekend being ‘at one with nature’ we absolutely love clamping website Canopy and Stars for answering our every weekend away need. Whether you fancy waking up in the tree line, star gazing around a bonfire, or embracing your inner boho and staying in a (luxury) tent – Canopy and Stars can offer you everything and more.
